Fall Festival 2015
Mark your calendar for this years’ Fall Festival. The HOA office will be a spooky place on Saturday, October 31st. Join the HOA and our business partners at 2:00pm for treats, interactive inflatables, pumpkin decorating and more. If you would like to have a booth, please contact the HOA office.
Yard Signs
Fall has officially started and with that comes football, fall festivals, Girl Scout cookies, food festivals, church homecomings and various other activities. Yard signs are starting to pop up around Eagle Point. Please remember that yard signs of any kind are not allowed in Eagle Point. The HOA has no problem with civic pride, church activities or Girl Scouts, but if we allow these signs then we also have to allow the groups we find offensive to advertise as well. It is in the covenants. Please take down the yard signs.
Mailbox Repair
Several mailboxes in the neighborhood need paint and repair. As a homeowner in Eagle Point you are required to keep your mailbox in like-new condition. This includes doors, scrolls, number markers and paint. If you need parts to repair your mailbox or need someone to come do the repairs please contact the HOA office. It only takes a few minutes to maintain your mailbox and the dozen or so in the neighborhood that need repair detract from the beauty of Eagle Point. And if you won’t repair it for aesthetic reasons, then repair it for safety reasons. Identity thieves love mailboxes without doors; it makes their job easier.
On Street Parking
On street parking is becoming a problem again in Eagle Point. This is discouraged in Eagle Point for many reasons:
-
Blocks the street and makes it difficult for emergency vehicles and public works vehicles to move throughout the neighborhood.
-
School buses have trouble running their routes.
-
Harder to see children playing and they have a tendency to dart out between cars parked on the street.
-
Increased potential for vandalism and break in’s.The Sheriff has told us multiple times not to park on the street. Our vehicles are safest locked in our garages or locked and in the driveway.
This is a particular problem in The Crest and in The Trace. Please be considerate of your neighbors and your community and park in your garage or your driveway.
Private Property
Please know that someone owns ALL lots in Eagle Point. If you don’t own it, don’t park on it. This is trespassing and the Sheriff’s department will ticket you. This has been an issue in The Crest and along the Parkway.

Eagle Point Fall Festival / HOA Sponsored Event
On Saturday, October 31 bring your kids in costume for some early Halloween fun. Take photos, decorate a pumpkin, and bounce in one of the three interactive inflatables. Hot dogs with soft drinks and Halloween themed treats will be available. This is also a pets-on-a-leash (in costume) friendly event.
If you would like to have a booth to promote your business or craft, please contact the HOA office. Orders can be taken but no sales can be made at the festival.
Website: recent emails sent
We are sorry about the numerous duplicate requests for RSAS and EP newsletter subscription confirmations. We had some updates made to ephoa.org and it generated the emails.
Yard Maintenance
The neighborhood has looked so good all summer long. We appreciate everyone taking such pride in their homes and in their yards. As fall is officially here please don’t get relaxed in yard maintenance. We know it is easy to get distracted by football and school and church activities but we need to continue to maintain our homes and keep the neighborhood looking its best. As the leaves begin to fall and we clear them from our yards remember that the storm drains are not designed or intended to be a leaf removal system. We certainly need them to function properly when we have a rainstorm.
Birmingham Botanical Gardens Fall Plant Sale Saturday, October 17 from 9am to 5pm and Sunday, October 18 from Noon to 4pm. Rain or Shine. Autumn is the best time to plant trees and shrubs. Trees available for purchase at this year’s Fall Plant Sale have been selected for Birmingham’s climate. For more information, visit their website.
New Construction in Eagle Point
There are several lots in Eagle Point that are being developed. Please contact the office if you see any construction going on near you so we can make sure we have all the proper paperwork on file. Don’t assume we know, please contact us as a way for us to double check our records.
Safety and Security
The HOA went through the neighborhood this summer and performed an audit on the safety/street lights. We had several of them repaired and we trimmed trees and shrubs that were obstructing the lights. If we missed one, please let us know. If you see a location that needs a light, please let us know. If we can add one, we will.
As an added security measure we encourage you to install motion and light sensors on your floodlights. This discourages unwanted visitors of all kinds.
If you see something suspicious, please call the Sheriff’s office at 205/669-4181 or call 911. Don’t be afraid to call. The Sheriff has asked for our help in monitoring our community.
Please review the rules of the road with your teenage drivers. We have young drivers pulling around a school bus as it stops to load/unload middle school students.
Solicitors
Solicitors are not welcome in Eagle Point. There are signs posted at all entrances to the neighborhood that clearly state No Soliciting. If someone knocks on your door or makes you uncomfortable, call the Sheriff. If you see vehicles in the neighborhood that are tossing ads in your yard, call the Sheriff. When you call please make sure you can give a description of the person or the vehicle. There are always deputies very close to Eagle Point and they respond quickly when called.
Something we can all do to help with the soliciting problem is to STOP supporting them. We receive a number of calls in the HOA office from homeowners complaining about the poor quality of work performed by the folks that toss clothes pins and cards in our yards or tape ads to our mailboxes. DON’T hire them. If they can’t make any money in Eagle Point they will move on to other communities.
Volunteers Needed
If you would like to make a difference in the neighborhood and get to know more of your 700 neighbors, please consider volunteering for the HOA board or a committee. We need folks in several areas including Welcome, Hospitality, Architectural Review and Covenant Compliance. If you have some time and would like to help, please contact the HOA office.

DONATIONS FOR PROJECT NIGHT NIGHT
Their Mission: Helping homeless children have sweeter dreams…
Project Night Night donates over 25,000 Night Night packages each year to homeless children 12 and under who need childhood essentials to have a concrete and predictable source of security and an increased exposure to high-quality literacy materials during their time of upheaval. Each Night Night package contains a new security blanket, an age appropriate children’s book, and a stuffed animal-all nestled inside of a new canvas tote bag. By providing objects of reliable comfort, Project Night Night reduces trauma and advances the emotional and cognitive well-being of the children we serve.
Every child who receives one of our Night Night packages leaves the shelter owning a book which encourages reading and family bonding, a security blanket which can be cuddled, and a stuffed animal which can become a cherished friend. We have one objective - to deliver our Night Night packages to every homeless child in the country who needs one.
