POSSIBLE GAS STATION

What: Hoover City Council Meeting - "Possible Gas Station at Doug Baker Blvd & Hwy 119"

When: Tonight Monday, October 3, 2016; 6:00 PM

Where: Council Chambers, Hoover City Hall - Third Floor, 100 Municipal Lane, Hoover, AL 35216

During the Hoover City Council meeting tonight at 6:00 PM, the Council will discuss the litigation brought by Covenant Bank against Hoover for denying their request to build a Valero gas station in 2015 (located on corner of Highway 119 and Doug Baker Blvd). It appears that Hoover will vote on a motion to appeal the judgment against the City of Hoover.

Agenda item #13. "Resolution 5478-16 – Appeal of judgment – Covenant Bank Litigation. Motion to approve."

In 2014, the residential and commercial communities around Highway 119 and Highway 280 joined in opposition to the construction of a Valero gas station at this location. The Eagle Point Homeowners Association and individual residents were some of many who spoke against the plan, during Hoover zoning and council meetings.

Some reasons for opposition to the proposed Valero gas station at this site:

- Increased traffic

- What is the need? There are four gas stations within one mile of this site

- Potential safety concerns

- Concerns about school bus routes

- Potential chemical pollution into the water that runs through our neighborhoods and to the Cahaba River

- Light and noise pollution

- Potential harm to property values

We need representation from Eagle Point at tonight's Council meeting. Please show your opposition to the proposed construction of the Valero gas station, and show your support for appealing the judgment against the City of Hoover. Please pass the word through our community. We were just made aware of this agenda item today.
