Eagle Pointer re: Proposed Apartment Complex near Highland Lakes
Regarding proposed apartment complex on Highway 280 inbound before light at Highland Lakes
Open meeting of the Shelby County Planning Commission next Tuesday, January 17th at 6:00. The meeting will be held at the Shelby County Services Building located at 1123 County Services Drive on the Second Floor. If you cannot make the meeting, please call the number noted in the message below and voice your opinion.

On Tuesday, January 17th, the Shelby County Planning Commission will hear a proposal of another 188 apartments to be added to the 280 Corridor and the Oak Mountain Schools (Mt. Laurel Elementary, Oak Mtn Middle & High). These apartments are just off of Hwy 280 and will back up to one of Highland Lakes’ newest phases.
AMAZING FACT: There are now over 9000 apartments from the Summit to Double Oak Mountain off of Hwy 280 including another 400 being built now at the corner of Brook Highland Parkway and 119 – no thanks to the City of Birmingham. There are 13 apartment communities that have 4600+ apartments zoned for Oak Mountain Schools.
There are more apartments than all of the homes in Inverness, Brook Highland, Meadow Brook and Eagle Point combined in the school district.
If you would like to try to maintain the integrity of our area, the infrastructure and our schools for as long as possible please feel free to call or email the Planning Commission (205-620-6650) with your thoughts or any questions.
*Please keep in mind that the Shelby County Commissioners have done an excellent job (in my opinion) over the years to protect Shelby County and plan properly for the future. They are not the problem but can be the solution.*
Eagle Pointer re: Holiday Decorations
As much as everyone has enjoyed the holiday decorations, it’s time for them to come down. Please take down your outdoor holiday decor. Thanks so much.
