Eagle Pointer re: Road Work on Eagle Crest Drive
Your Eagle Point HOA received the following update from Shelby County regarding road work in Eagle Point that will take place next week. Please make your plans to use the 280 entrance/exit and the Farley Lane entrance/exit during the specified times. Expect delays if you choose to take Eagle Point Drive during this process. Keep in mind that weather or other circumstances could affect the timing of this work.
This milling/resurfacing will address the issues many drivers have on Eagle Crest Drive when it rains, as a different asphalt aggregate mix will be applied for this surface.
From the Shelby County Highway Department:
Wiregrass Construction will be milling/resurfacing Eagle Crest Drive from AL Highway 119 to Eagle Crest Road beginning Wednesday, 9/27 (most likely - but not firm) of next week. This work will take 2-3 days to complete. The road will remain open, but there will be heavy delays. It would probably be best to use an alternate route.
Please pass along to the residents. Thank you!
Eagle Pointer re: Updated Paving Start Date
UPDATE 09/26/2023 PAVING DELAY UNTIL THURSDAY - An Eagle Point HOA board member spoke with the paving company this morning, and an equipment repair issue has delayed the start of the paving of Eagle Crest Drive. Their goal is to start on Thursday, 9/28. I’ll update as we get information.
Reminder that road work on Eagle Crest Drive is scheduled to start Wednesday. Plan your departure for school or work or afternoon carpool accordingly. All Oak Mtn school administrators have been notified, as well as the transportation department for the school buses.

Eagle Pointer re: Entertainment District Zoning Request
I’ve been made aware of a rezoning request that will be considered by the City of Hoover on Monday, October 9th at 5:30. This request relates to the property at Farley Lane and Farley Court near The Hampton Inn, where many of us have noticed the survey work recently. The property is owned by Rushmore Lee Branch, LLC, and the application is being made by Jamey Holt as a representative of Slinc, LLC. They propose a change from commercial C-2 to Conditional Use as an entertainment district featuring live entertainment, food vendors, indoor/outdoor dining, and family friendly activities.
I left a message for the Zoning Assistant listed on the attached letter and will seek more information when she returns my call. I will update as I know more.
My areas of concern are 1) the mess of a parking lot going through Lee Branch to this property (Hobby Lobby and Baumhower’s area) cannot handle additional traffic when it barely holds up with current traffic levels, 2) using the Highway 280 point for entrance/egress will create even more of a traffic nightmare than currently exists, and 3) the main roads in Eagle Point already have so many patches and asphalt failures that they cannot accommodate additional commercial traffic. These concerns don’t even touch on the noise issues I feel are inevitable with this zoning request.
I have made contact with the Sheriff Office to make them aware and will follow up to determine their concerns on this issue.
Please email us at [email protected] with any concerns you’d like to share. PLEASE PLAN ON ATTENDING THE MEETING TO VOICE YOUR OPINION ON THIS REZONING. While we are not part of Hoover, we as Shelby County residents will be directly affected by this change of zoning.
