Eagle Pointer re: Lot Development
(Many/most/all) Eagle Point residents received a letter from Shelby County regarding the development of two parcels by the original developer of Eagle Point, John Reamer of Reamer Development Corporation. Essentially, the plan is to create six lots by 1) turning the dead end of Eagle Point Drive (past the entrance to The Crest sector) into a cul-de-sac with three lots for homes and by 2) turning the dead end of Eagle Crest Road (where the water tower is) into a cul-de-sac with three lots for homes. This development plan is within the property owner’s rights for these properties. In the overall scheme of development, the two cul-de-sacs are the best case scenario and are preferable to a cut through road connecting Eagle Point Drive to Eagle Crest Road. Your HOA Board has obtained the plans from Reamer Development, attached for you to see.
Per the information in the letter from the County, the Shelby County Planning Commission will hold a public meeting regarding this issue on Monday, June 19th at 6:00 pm in the Community Room at 1123 County Services Drive in Pelham. Your HOA Board will be there representing Eagle Point's interests. You may contact the County as directed in the letter; email questions for your HOA Board to [email protected]; and attend the meeting on June 19.
To reference the past development of Griffin Park… the development of the old golf
course was going to happen in some form or fashion. The best outcome was the development into Griffin Park as it currently exists, not the initially proposed apartments or townhomes. Reamer Development Corporation has the right to develop these lots, and these cul-de-sacs present the best outcome to minimize cut through traffic if those roads were to be connected.
The HOA Board will not be addressing questions posted on social media. Any official information regarding this issue will come from the HOA Board, so relying on rumors or social media hearsay or other sources may not be reliable. We will do our best to keep residents informed in a timely manner.
